378 Marine Drive is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Ucluelet. There you will find award-winning restaurants, artist-run galleries, a book store, a bakery and several coffee shops. Ucluelet also has one of the world’s only catch-and-release aquariums. Ucluelet Brewing Co. in St. Aidan’s church gives commanding views of Mount Ozzard.

Ucluelet has many outdoor adventure companies to help you plan a kayak trip, spend the afternoon SUPing, or go on a whale watching tour. The Wild Pacific Trail winds it’s way past your suite on 378 Marine Drive. Either walk to the Lighthouse loop or explore the 8 kilometres of rugged shoreline in the other direction. Stop at the Black Rock Resort for a pick-me-up on your way back or enjoy our in-house local coffee or teas.

Our rooms are excellent for viewing the many types of birds on the west coast, including eagles, herons, Stellar’s jays, hummingbirds, just to name a few.

The Rainforest and Trails

Shinrin Yoku, the practise of Forest Bathing, simply means spending more time around trees. It has been scientifically proven that taking a forest walk improves energy, boosts your immune system and helps with depression. Start your stay at 378 Marine Drive with a walk through the forest leading to your suite. Then discover the many trails through ancient rainforests minutes from your room.

During the summer, free guided nature walks are available along the Wild Pacific Trail. Learn about coastal sea wolves, shoreline birds, whales and other ocean creatures with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic local naturalists as you explore the trail.

Beaches

Between Ucluelet and Tofino there are 16 kilometres of beaches, including world renowned Long Beach. Hard and soft sand, grassy dunes, crashing waves and bleached logs line the shoreline. It is the destination of surfers and beach strollers.

Situated within the park, Long Beach is a 20 minute drive from 378 Marine Drive. There are many other stunning beaches on your way there, including Combers, Florencia and Half Moon Bay. Stop at the Kwi’si-tis visitor’s centre at Wick Beach to learn about local history and catch some surf.

Pacific Rim National Park

Highway 4 leads you through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, a core protected part of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Rainforest and Bog trail offer unique forest environments and are easily accessible by car.

Throughout the summer the park offers many nature hikes and information sessions about the history and ecology of the West Coast and Nuu-Chahnulth culture.
